**2. The set of numbers (5, 6, 7, m, 6, 7, 8, n) has an arithmetic mean of 6 and mode (most frequently occurring number) of 7. Then m x n =**

1. 18

2. 35

3. 28

4. 14

**Ans:-**4,

**Expl:-** (5, 6, 7, m, 6, 7, 8, n)

Arithmetic mean = 5 + 6 + 7 + m + 6 + 7 + 8 + n / 8

6 = 5 + 6 + 7 + m + 6 + 7 + 8 + n / 8

6 x 8 = 39 + m + n

48 – 39 = m + n

m + n = 9

Mode = 7

ie, 7 is the most frequent number. So either m or n is 7. If m = 7, n = 9 – 7 = 2

ie, m = 7, n = 2

then m x n = 7 x 2 = 14
